My Holistic Therapy Approach

At this point, I would like to invite you warmly to take some of your precious time to read this brief overview of holism in relation to human health.

My holistic therapy approach is the concentrate of my studies, my own path that I had to walk, my experiences as a authorized pharmacist, alternative practitioner, holistic therapist and psychological councelor with my clients.

[Smuts, “Holism and Evolution,” p.86]

The term “holistic” in health care can be dated back to the Greeks. Here beginns the relationship between rhetoric, philosophy and medicine with mutual influences and contributions.

This relationship is due to the assumption that, as the logos of Pholosophy acts on the soul, so the medicine with its techniques and its remedies acts on the body.

The great greek philosopher and polymath Aristotle lays the foundations for a scientific (epistème) methodology approach and the famous physician Hippocrates, over 2,500 years ago, highlighted the importance of viewing individuals as a whole system made up of many parts working together. He was the first to lay the foundations of rational medicine combined with ethical values.

These days we are facing almost the opposite. Our Western medicine is completely disconnected from spirituel and philosophical concepts. So-called evidence-based science only accepts explanations and solutions on a merely material, cellular or molecular level.

Do you know what the Nativ’s say?

The results that I have been able to observe over the last 25 years do not show much success in lasting healing of people.

In my approach I follow this important advice through all sessions with my clients and also in my own health matters.

When I started studying pharmacy, I realized very quickly that it wasn’t about real healing. In a way it was about bypassing the search for the roots of person’s illness. Very often the medical history and then the diagnosis are part of the search for how to make symptoms disappear, rather then finding the roots of it and then working on these. I know that sounds very extreme. At my current point of view I’m convinced that we have to radically re-think our relationship to our health of our Body-Mind-System. We are soulful consciousness! And we must include the phenomenon of the heart. It seems to be a gateway to the body, to the soul, to others and finally to that presence we call our soul.

Body-Mind-Heart-Soul-Divine-Consciousness

So actually we are a multidemsional being – a Body-Mind-Heart-Soul-Divine-Consciousness

And here we see the map of healing. It is very simple in a way.

  1. Everything starts with Consciousness.
  2. The soul comes from the Divine and is always connected with this highest aspect of Existence, consciously or unconsciously.
  3. Unconsciousness in the connection creates at some point chaos. The constant calibration with our natural highest Divine Design is distorted.
  4. Chaos causes a lack of communication between the Soul and the different spaces, levels, layers and functions, and – as always – conflicts arise at the edges of all the areas. Consequently, dysfunctionality spreads from there.
  5. We lose contact and communication with our Heart first. This causes disconnection to the higher and spacious qualities of love and compassion. Our inner room of generosity start to shrink. We experience more mental and emotional pressure through our circumstances.
  6. Our Mind slowly slips from the higher cognitive functions of the hypothalamus into the lower brain areas of the reptilian brain, which activates fear-driven survival thinking and decision-making patterns.
  7. This induce a release of stress hormones and the activation of our sympathetic nervous system, a part of our autonome nervous system, which prepares the body for the 3 survival reactions: Fight, Flight, Freeze.
  8. The function of the parasympathetic nervous system and the enteric nervous system are now suppressed or deactivated. Because the parasympathetic system is responsible for stimulation of “rest-and-digest” or “feed-and-breed” activities that occur when the body is at rest, especially after eating, including sexual arousal, salivation, lacrimation (tears), urination, digestion, defecation and also repairing broken or dysfunctional cells or structures, it is obviously what kind of symptoms ( diseases ) in our Body will appear after a while of inactivity.
  9. The enteric nervous system, which is also known as the “second brain” or “abdominal brain”, is a complex network of nerve cells organized in ganglia. It runs through almost the entire gastrointestinal tract as it has a significant influence on intestinal motility or peristalsis, absorption, secretion, blood flow and immunological functions. The neurons of this part of the nervous system communicate through many neurotransmitters including acetylcholine, dopamine, and serotonin. The high concentration of serotonin and dopamine in the gut shows its enormous influence on our mental and emotional state of our Mind Setup.

Good to know – but why?

Sustainable Health is about Connection – Let’s connect the dots!

In this universe is all about energy, information and connection. Is the connection between all the parts of the whole accurate, the energy flows dimensiousless, effortless, nourishing and supportive through everything and everyone, bringing with all the informations for prosperity.

All can and will thrive.

Where are the dots and how to connect them

The dots are located at the edges between different spaces, areas, qualities and functions. This is also where growth and destruction begin. And sometimes destruction is necessary for our thriving. But first let’s have a look at the links for growing.

At first we need an intimate connection or better reconnection with the Higher Consciousness, we call God, The Existence, The TAO, the Divine, The Higher Self, Essence etc. From there comes all the energy and informations we need for our existence and for our personal and collective evolution. Cure: Meditation

Then we still need an understanding that we are an individual expression of the Divine, that we are soulful consciousness, wrapped in a personal identity, often called Ego. We have to learn to distinguish between the both, otherwise we have no choice in directing our awareness. Cure: Self-Discovery, Inner Work, Shadow Work, Inquiry

The next step is to learn how to focus our awareness on the heart, energetically and physically, to achieve a coherent flow of energy. Heart Coherence is a state of cooperative alignment between the heart, mind, emotions and physical systems which is naturally reflected in the heart’s rhythmic patterns. It helps to regulate our stressful thinking and our autonome nervous system and everything that is linked with. Learning to activate qualities of the heart such as care, kindness and acceptance increases our abilities to manage changes and challenges without going lost in fear. Cure: Breath-Work, Imagination, Kundalini-Yoga, Kriya Yoga, Qi Gong,

Being able to regulate our autonomic nervous system between a shut down and an activated state is one of the crucial skills we should develop. When we are able to realize what state we’re in, we have an incredible opportunity to consciously choose to regulate ourselves and come back into a ventral vagal state. The most important thing here is to reconnect our brain with our body. The Heart Math institute in Boulder has developed reliable, scientifically validated tools that help people reduce and avoid stress while experiencing increased peace, satisfaction and self-security. https://www.heartmath.org Cure: massages, body work, breath work, Biodynamic exercises, Yoga, Qi Gong, Tai Qi, Dynamic Meditations, Mindfulness Meditation, consciously walking etc.
